Elitzur Bar-Asher Siegal is a Professor in the Department of Hebrew Language at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He currently serves as Chair of the Department, and previously headed the Language, Logic and Cognition Center (LLCC). Trained at the intersection of philosophy, linguistics, and the study of Semitic languages, he earned his B.A. (summa cum laude) in Philosophy and Hebrew Language from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2002) and completed his Ph.D. at Harvard University (2009).

He joined the Hebrew University faculty in 2010 after serving as Lecturer in Semitics at Yale University (2008–2010). His visiting appointments include Harvard University (Visiting Professor, Spring 2012), Yale University (Jacob Perlow Visiting Professor, 2017–2018; Visiting Professor, 2022–2023), the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris (Short-Term Visiting Professor, 2018–2019), the University of Chicago (Visiting Professor, Fall 2023), and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School (Visiting Professor, Fall 2025).
